When you are unable to make your own decisions or you cannot physically manage your own affairs, you can pick someone to help you.
HEALTH CARE DIRECTIVE - You can pick someone to help you make decisions for you related to your health. For instance, if you are unconscious, your spouse could pick a form of medical treatment for you.
DURABLE POWER OF ATTORNEY FOR ASSET MANAGEMENT - You can pick someone to help you manage your finances if you can't. For example, when we have older clients that are unable to physically go to the bank, the client can pick their child to act for the client and the child can then go to the bank and sign checks or documents on behalf of the client.
REVOCABLE TRUST - If assets are properly titled in the trust, then the successor trustee of your trust can act on the clients behalf if the client is either physically or mentally unable to manage the assets in the trust.
